How men can become allies and bridge-builders

"Not women 'need to break the glass ceiling' at work.

Instead, the glass ceiling can only be opened up 'from above': by those leaders who are already there - and those are mostly men.

...and we cannot just expect from men to step aside, to do it alone - we need to support and enable them seriously if we want to see more women in leadership roles."

These are my own words that I said in so many Keynotes, on so many stages across Europe in the past years - and now I can finally set them in motion.

I am proudly teaming up with Vincent-Immanuel Herr and Martin Speer from HERR & SPERR for this year‘s International Women‘s Day.

Vincent and Martin are experts and authors on Male Allyship, they are UN Women Germany #HeforShe Catalysts and in 2022 advised G7 governments as Members of their Gender Equality Advisory Council.

Most of all, Vincent and Martin touched me with their so extraordinary approach working with male leaders on gender equality and inclusive leadership. They open safe spaces for men to voice their frustrations, questions and concerns on Diversity and Inclusion in their companies.

As HERR & SPEER, Vincent and Martin support men in becoming active male allies and inclusive leaders with an increased awareness of the daily subtle sexism that is happening at each meeting table, who call out false „jokes“ and who support their partners in care work at home.

On this year’s International Women’s Day, we are holding a joint Keynote Speech on „How Women Re-Define Leadership - and the Key Role of Men as Allies and Bridge-Builders“ online for the European Agencies in Spain.

Next week, we'll speak together at a European Commission panel event called “From gender balance to inclusive teams and cultures”.

We are grateful for these great opportunities!
